Aniol Esteban

Aniol Esteban – Head of Environmental Economics at the New Economics Foundation

Aniol works to demonstrate how sustainable management of the environment and natural resources benefits both society and the economy. He leads economics research and policy work applied to fisheries, climate and energy, and food and agriculture. Part of his role also involves delivery of economics training and campaigning work.

Prior to joining NEF Aniol was an economist at the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), and worked on capacity-building for environmental organisations for the WWF Mediterranean Programme. He also worked for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and the Portuguese Oceanography Institute. Aniol has been involved with various EU research projects on water and nature conservation policies. He has a BSc degree in Biology from the Universitat de Barcelona and a MSc in environmental economics from University College London.

Outside of NEF, Aniol loves spending time in nature. He is passionate about the sea and pictures himself snorkelling or sailing in his beloved Mediterranean at least several times a day.
